The Dryden area is known for outstanding trophy fishing, including walleye, muskie, and northern pike, along with some of Ontario’s premier black bear hunting. Route Lake Camp sits on a beautiful 3,800-acre lake, offering guests a true Canadian wilderness experience without requiring you to completely give up indoor plumbing.

The camp features six comfortable lakefront cabins, accommodating groups of two to ten guests. Each cabin includes a private bathroom and shower, along with an outdoor propane grill. Electricity and internet are provided through a combination of generators and solar power—so you can enjoy being off the grid while still occasionally reminding the world that you’re alive.

And this is where things get good.

Spend your mornings on the lake chasing trophy fish using camp-provided boats and motors. After a morning of fishing, head back to camp, grab some lunch, and get ready for your afternoon black bear hunt. Fish in the morning. Hunt bears in the afternoon. Not exactly a bad way to spend a week in Canada.

The hunting areas are maintained by experienced guides, with ladder stands and game cameras monitoring activity at each site. The groundwork is done so you can concentrate on the hunt—and hopefully have a story worth telling when you get home.

Many of our bear stands are accessible by boat, making the hunt part of the adventure. Leave right from the lodge dock, cruise across the lake, and head directly to your stand.

And one of the best parts? When you harvest your bear and return to the lodge, your family and friends can be waiting at the dock to celebrate with you.
